How to add grease to the slewing bearing
Before using the slewing bearing, the user needs to add grease to ensure that the slewing bearing is fully lubricated during operation. Whether the grease filling is reasonable has a great impact on the service life of the slewing bearing. Today we will explain to you how to fill the slewing bearing in general.
First of all, let’s talk about the standard for filling grease. For the slewing bearing in use, if it is a ball bearing, it is required to fill the raceway with grease once every 100 hours of operation. If it is a roller bearing, it is required to fill the raceway with grease once every 50 hours of operation. If the use environment is high temperature, high humidity, dusty, and has large temperature changes, or the bearing has a long continuous working time, the lubrication cycle should be shortened.
After the first 100 hours of operation of the slewing bearing, the bolt preload should be checked, and the preload should be checked every 500 hours of operation thereafter;
If it is a slewing bearing with teeth, the gears should be smeared with an appropriate amount of grease in time, and Mobil XHP222 grease should be applied in high and low temperature environments, and should be reapplied in time during use;
According to GB/T7324-2010 (national standard for general lithium-based grease), the slewing bearing manufacturer will add a small amount of 2# extreme pressure lithium-based grease to the slewing bearing when it leaves the factory. Before the first use, the grease in the raceway must be evenly filled (the visual judgment of filling is that the sealing strip is slightly bulging).
For the selection of grease, 2# extreme pressure lithium-based grease should be used in -10℃-40℃ environment (normal temperature). Mobil XHP222 long-lasting composite lithium-based grease (resistant to -40℃-150℃ temperature) should be used in high-cold and high-temperature environments.
The filling process:
Inject grease into the oil gun.
Ensure that the inner ring of the slewing bearing rotates continuously. One person is responsible for oiling and rotating with the inner ring to avoid adding too much grease in one place.
Add grease from the gun to the raceway. At this time, there will be a small amount of grease under the seal, which means that the grease filling standard has been met.
